Marcia Bernstein, M.S.W., B.C.D., has been a therapist
for over 32 years, the last 13 of them at Canyon Ranch—one
of the nation’s premier destination health resorts, where
the approach is wellness and brief therapy. She also managed two
employee assistance programs—one in the New York metropolitan
region and one in the Berkshires of Massachusetts—before the
advent of managed care.
She taught at the graduate schools of Boston and
Fordham universities Boston and and was a CME lecturer for the University
of Arizona Medical School. Prior to that, Marcia worked with psychiatric,
chemically-dependent and dually- diagnosed clients, abused women
and children, and homeless in New York City, rural Vermont and Pennsylvania.
She is certified as both a clinical hypnotherapist and a release
therapist.
Marcia has lectured or facilitated workshops for
over 50 groups, including several Fortune 500 companies. In 2002
she was a speaker at the annual conference of the Young Presidents’
Organization. She has been quoted in Marie Claire, Madamoiselle,
and Divorce, as well as in other publications; served as an on-line
relationships expert for Self magazine; was a three-time guest on
“The Joan Hamburg Show” (WOR-NY); was interviewed by
The Canadian Broadcasting Company; and she was featured in the Public
Television production, “Live Younger Longer”. Marcia
authored the segment on intimacy for the Simon & Schuster book,
The Canyon Ranch Guide to Living Younger Longer, and she was a lecturer
on the QM2 during the sailing vessel’s inaugural year.
